Matthew S. Starr is a comedy writer/actor living in NYC.
As a Writer/Performer at Above Average, Matthew created and hosted the weekly talk show We've Got Questions, starred in the weekly scripted series Personal Business, lead the editorial writing team, and was featured in numerous sketches featured on the site's social media outlets.
Matthew has written for television programs on MTV, MTV2, and TruTV, as well as being a contributor to CollegeHumor, Funny or Die, and Splitsider. His short film, Grief: A Comedy, was featured in the LA Indie Film Fest. He also wrote all of the comedic remarks for the 2015 Chef's Roast, a charity gala in Washington D.C. featuring Top Chef's Padma Lakshmi, Tom Colicchio, and Richard Blais.
He has appeared in the Verizon Go90 series Thanksgiving, Mike Birbiglia's Don't Think Twice, and in videos featured on AV Club, CollegeHumor, Cracked, UCB Comedy, Huffington Post, and many other web sites.
Matthew performs at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in New York City on Harold Night (Tuesdays). He is an alumni of the UCB Touring Company. Matthew also is the host/lead singer for Seriously, Are You Ready To Rock? A Battle of the Bands Show.
Matthew thinks museums are effing awesome, and he is a tour guide at the Metropolitan Museum of Art for Museum Hack. He also teaches a pilot-writing workshop in NYC.
Matthew is a graduate of The Ohio State University.
